I met Steve at a wedding open day at Abbey house and straight away I knew he was the photographer for us. He has such a calm and relaxed nature, which really helped with the wedding nerves. I imagined that posing for photographs was going to feel a bit awkward, but it wasn’t at all like that. Steve just asked us to be ourselves and everything was so natural. We enjoyed every minute of the shoot.
Steve did more than take wonderful photographs – he looked after us by letting us know what to expect at each stage of our day and made sure we were in the right place at the right time. It really helped put us at ease in the lead up to the ceremony.
There were so many positive comments from our guests – about the brilliant job Steve was doing and what a friendly guy he is. And he was a hit with our little girls which was so important to us.
We absolutely love our photo gallery and can’t stop looking through it. Steve had captured every special moment (even when we didn’t realise he was there!) and it really tells the story of our day.

A huge thank you for being an amazing photographer on our wedding day. We were probably the most annoying wedding couple to photograph on the day with both of us trying to avoid the camera! It was such a busy day, yet Steve managed to capture lots of unique photographs that we can look back on and smile. Steve captured the nervous getting ready ones, incredible ones on our own, amazing family pics as well as lots of photographs in the moment. Steve was able to take natural pictures without guests even knowing he was there! It’s incredible to look through the gallery and see how many pictures there are as Steve really blended into the background during these moments. Where can I start! It’s been a year since my sister’s wedding at Abbey House in Barrow and they had Steve Hillman as their photographer.
One of the best decisions they made was choosing Steve, he was fun, relaxed and quite discrete but he got the job done perfectly. We all felt at ease and the dreaded group shots took no time at all (with a little help from a megaphone).
Steve was able to capture the many magical moments of the day from getting ready, the ceremony, he even captured the emotions throughout the speeches, all the way through the day up to the gender reveal cake cutting in the evening. It was a day of so many emotions and Steve captured every single one of them.
The album came back so quickly and it was perfect. We are all truly grateful for the hard work you put in. Steve Hillman Wedding Photography you are highly recommended from all the guests on the day.

We had an absolutely amazing experience with Steve Hillman as our wedding photographer. From the moment we met him, he was warm, professional, and incredibly easy to talk to. Neither myself nor my partner are particularly comfortable in front of a camera — we don’t usually take photos and definitely don’t know how to pose! But Steve made us feel completely relaxed and at ease from the very beginning.
What stood out the most was how naturally he worked with us. There were moments during the shoot where we genuinely forgot we were being photographed — he created such a calm and comfortable environment that we were just able to be ourselves and enjoy the moment. And the photos he captured during those times are absolutely stunning — natural, candid, and full of emotion.
Steve is not only a talented photographer with a great eye for detail, but also a genuinely lovely person to have around on such an important day. He blended in effortlessly, never made anything feel forced, and captured everything beautifully.

I’ve been fortunate to meet Steve a number of times over the years either as a guest or a bridesmaid at a wedding he’s been working at. So I always knew I wanted him at my wedding, there was no other option after seeing how he works.
It felt like he was part of our day, from joining in with us getting ready in the morning, walking our dog with us and for playing tractors with my little boy on the dance floor. Whilst remaining completely professional and advising us on our special day.

I’m lucky enough to call Steve my uncle, so having him as our wedding photographer was an absolute no brainer. From the moment he and Rosie arrived, they made both of us feel so at ease and genuinely became such an important memorable part of our amazing day.
The way Steve approaches everything is so relaxed yet incredibly attentive to make sure the day was captured in the way we wanted it to be, even if that meant nipping into McDonald’s for a quick happy meal.
We’ll always have the honour of having taking Steve on his first ever Uber ride down to the docs. Having worked in the wedding industry myself for a number of years, I can truthfully say that Steve is a credit to the trade and a perfect example of what a wedding photographer should be.

They say bag yourself a decent photographer for your wedding day and we sure got that.
We were reccomended Steve Hillman by a mutual friend, after viewing his work we knew this is who we wanted and we where lucky enough that Steve had space in his busy diary to capture our wedding day. On the day Steve and his daughter Rosie (who captured some reels for social media) picked out some brilliant backdrops for the photos.
To say they went above and beyond would be an understatement.
They both have a very calm and relaxed approach and they where able to capture all those little moments on camera that we would have missed.
everything from the behind the scenes shots, the ceremony, drinks reception, group and family pictures, the meal and the evening do all turned out incredible.
Steve sure has an eye for detail and if he had an idea for a shot he would check we where happy to do it before setting it up e.g getting the wedding party all lined up on a canal bridge whilst he hopped in a canal boat the get the pictures.
We can’t thank Steve and Rosie enough for all their hard work, the wedding album looks amazing and we would highly reccommend Steve Hillman to anybody.

We booked Steve as our photographer for our wedding on 28th October this year, after a recommendation. We will be forever grateful for that recommendation.
From the start Steve was prompt with his email replies to any of our questions or queries, and put our minds at ease. Our wedding was a fair distance from our home, so it wasn’t possible to meet with Steve beforehand, this did not faze Steve, we had an in-depth phone call before our big day to ensure everything was organised, and no detail was missed.
Steve had not been to our venue before, so he made the effort to scope out the area beforehand, and arrived early on our wedding day to pick out the best areas for shots!
Steve and his wonderful daughter (his helper for the day) made us feel completely relaxed. They were a dynamic team who made sure even small details and moments we may have missed were captured.
Our day was a very chilled and natural vibe, and Steve captured this to a tee. He captured all the sort of shots we wanted and more! The formal photographs with family and friends took no time at all, it was incredibly efficient! Steve’s prompts and hints for certain photos like cake cutting were warmly received!
We also really appreciated the time Steve took to get us away from our guests for a few moments to capture some couple shots, this gave us time to reflect on our day, as well as getting a few moments alone together, which was extra special.
Once the day was over Steve shared a few sneak peak photos which made us even more excited to see the rest! Steve was prompt sending the rest of our photos across, within a matter of weeks after.

Booking a photographer for your wedding is one of the most important decisions you have to make. And as a mature bride and groom who are both quite camera shy! we were really struggling to find the perfect one for us, as a lot of websites seemed to be aimed at younger people, and we were beginning to find the whole experience daunting.
But eventually, and luckily for us our elopement wedding venue The Abbey House Hotel recommend Steve, and what a recommendation!!
Hiring Steve as our wedding photographer was one of the best decisions we made. We needn’t have worried, from the moment we met Steve we knew he was the right guy, and what a guy!!!
