Leasil and Nish’s wedding on Saturday 8th August, 2020.
When the wedding of Leasil and Nish, a grand affair due to take place this August at Oxford University, was postponed, local girl Leasil decided to bring her family back to Barrow and have an impromptu wedding here. And what a beautiful day it turned out to be!
The wedding ceremony took place in St. Mary’s church, Dalton-in-Furness on a warm and sunny Saturday at the start of August. The couple were restricted to close family guests and their daughter, but Nish’s parents and other family members watched the service digitally from their homes- this is how weddings have to be at the moment, but the emotion and fun of the day was still there in spadefuls.
After the ceremony, Leasil, Nish and their guests enjoyed a picnic together in the church grounds, then the couple and their daughter ventured to Furness Abbey, the first of their visits to iconic local landmarks for a photoshoot. Next, they drove to Earnse Bay for some wonderful seaside photographs, with Black Combe as a backdrop.
Although the beach was crowded with townsfolk catching a few rays, they stepped back to allow the couple some quiet moments for their photos. After a socially distanced meet-up with some other friends at Biggar Bank, it was off to the fabulous Walney Island eatery-Andy’s Chippy for tea.
Like many other weddings during the current pandemic, Leasil and Nish’s felt extra special and poignant because of all the hard work put in by everyone involved, to make everything Covid-secure. This wedding proves that it can be done without detracting from that special wedding day feeling.
